Join Us!
King Farm is a great, diverse, and growing community. Our children attend many schools during the year, and in summer it is great to see them reunited across the lines that sometimes divide them. The Screamin' Geese Swim Team is one way that we can draw together kids of all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, and abilities to represent one thing - our pride as a community. We hope that you and your family will enjoy being part of the Screamin' Geese for this and many years to come.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR SWIMMERS AND FAMILIES:

Swimmers, the team really needs you to stay for all of your scheduled events -- last week we lost points because we had empty lanes. 4th OF JULY PARADE AND CARNIVAL!
Start digging out your red, white and blue, and join your friends and neighbors for the annual community parade and carnival this Saturday, July 4.

Decorate those strollers, bicycles, and floats and head the corner of Watkins Pond Boulevard at King Farm Park at 11:15 a.m. for the annual parade to the Saddle Ridge Community Center.  This year's parade will be led by a City of Rockville police cruiser. The parade will start at approximately 11:30 a.m.

In years past hundreds of residents have participated in the parade, so if you do not want to walk in the parade, you may just want to stand on the sidewalk and watch the action as it travels by. It is sure to be a scene you will not want to miss.

Once the parade arrives at the Saddle Ridge Community Center (300 Saddle Ridge Circle) a carnival will be set up and waiting for the children on the lawn and in the rear parking lot of the Saddle Ridge Community Center following the parade until 1:30 p.m. The carnival will include giant tricycles, inflatables, rides, face-painting and more!!

After the parade and carnival, the King Farm Screamin' Geese Swim Team will be serving up a traditional 4th of July BBQ from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The picnic will feature hotdogs, hamburgers and a variety of side dishes. You must register in advance for the BBQ! (See email with attachment sent to the King Farm List Serv on June 29)

Let's break another record crowd for attendance this year and get ready to parade and carnival in celebration of Independence Day.

See you all on Saturday!!!!

PANCAKE BREAKFAST - FRIDAY, JULY 10
Please join us on Friday, July 10, after morning practice for a pancake breakfast. Pancakes will be served at 8:30 for the 10 & unders, and from 10-11 for the 11 & overs and preteamers.

We will need help from parents to pull this off. We'll need help serving the food, and we'll also need a few parents to cook sausage and bacon at home and bring it to the pool.

Please contact Glenda, glenda@kingfarmswimteam.com , for information or to help.

MORNING PRACTICE!!!
Coach Pat wants to encourage all swimmers to attend the morning practices if possible.
10 & Unders at 7:30 - 8:30
11 & Ups at 8:30 - 10:00
Pre-Team 10:00 - 10:30

The advantage of morning practice is that the pool is closed to the public so it is a much quieter, more focused time. Please consider making the shift to mornings!

Congratulations to Sherril Han, winner of last week's best-decorated car contest!

WE NEED TIMERS FOR ALL MEETS!!!
Parents, please contact Glenda at glenda@kingfarmswimteam.com to volunteer.

MATTIE'S HEARTSONG SWIM
Watch this space for information on the 2009 Mattie's Heartsong Swim.  In 2008, we had a great turnout, lots of fun and enjoyed listening to Jeni Stepanek speak about Mattie and his message of hope and peace.  King Farm Swim Team will again encourage all members to participate in this annual event.
